As you make plans for the 2012-2013 school year, the Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District extends an invitation to your organization to volunteer at WaterFest 2013 on Saturday, June 1 at Lake Phalen. The Fest is from 11AM to 4 PM.





WaterFest is a free celebration of our clean lakes and offers an opportunity for outdoors, hands-on learning about the water quality, wildlife, and special ecological features of our beautiful watershed. Activities are anticipated to include:



* WaterFest parade featuring students, clowns and mascots

* Voyageur canoe rides; solar pontoon boat rides; sailing demonstrations; fishing and standup paddleboard lessons; canoes, kayaks and bikes for checkout with a driver's license or ID

* Fishing contest with prizes

* Raindrop Mystery Tour with prizes

* Geocaching

* Tricia & the Toonies Game & Puppet Show

* Rain garden tour and a native plant for your yard

* Climbing wall, jump castle, archery, art, water games and bird watching

* Student artistic, scientific and service project displays

* Landscaping, shorelines, watersheds and ecosystems displays from professionals

* Street sweeper, snowplow and storm drain stenciling that demonstrate how cleaner streets keep lakes cleaner

* Lakeside yoga

* Swimming and beach activities

* Kabtob competition (an Asian foot-volleyball game)

* Photos with LEAP Frog



Your organization can help with activities, table to promote artistic, scientific or service projects related to clean water, habitat, etc. and/or create and staff a new activity.

Volunteer for Roseville’s 2013 Living Smarter Fair


The Fair will be held on February 16th, 2013
Pre-Fair Volunteer Opportunities
Distribute posters in advance of the Fair
4 – 6 volunteers needed in mid-January 2013
• Put up posters at various locations in Roseville
Pre-Fair Prep
4 – 6 volunteers needed the day before the Fair (Friday, Feb. 15)
• Arrange tables/chairs for workshops
• Set out chairs for exhibitors
• Hang directional signs
Fair Day Volunteer Opportunities
Welcome Exhibitors
2 volunteers needed from 7:00 am – 9:00 am (will be working outside most of the time)
• Welcome Exhibitors and show them where to park
• Help Exhibitors unload materials
• Ensure Exhibitors have parked in designated parking areas after they are done unloading
Staff Zero Waste Stations
2 volunteers needed from 9:00 am – Noon (will be working inside)
• Show attendees and vendors where to recycle or compost unwanted items
2 volunteers needed from Noon – 3:00 pm (will be working inside)
• Show attendees and vendors where to recycle or compost unwanted items
Craft Help
2 volunteers needed from 9:00 am – Noon (will be working inside)
• Help in the Kids Zone with craft activities
2 volunteers needed from Noon – 3:00 pm (will be working inside)
• Help in the Kids Zone with craft activities
Clean Up
2 volunteers needed from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm (will be working inside)
• Put away chairs
• General Clean-up

• Free breakfast and/or lunch depending on which shifts you work
• The warm, fuzzy feeling you get from helping a great cause
• A few hours of community service – if you have a form to record your hours, we’ll be glad to sign it!
